SLA 159 Off to the Waterfall

And to bathe with Empress Josephine?  Well NO not really. While we saw the baths, they were not part of our hurry, hurry, hurry tour.  But just as a point of interest:  Empress Josephine was Napoleon’s first wife (and six years his senior).  Most say she was born in nearby Martinique, but St. Lucia claims her, and the fluid nature of things there with the French and the English constantly claiming, losing, and re-claiming islands just adds to the confusion.  It seems clear that, at the very least, Josephine’s father owned a plantation on St. Lucia and was a part-time resident so it is possible she was born there.  Her baptism record only shows she was baptized in Martinique, and is mute on where she was born.  There is some speculation that this was deliberate so at to not cloud the issue of her French citizenship.
