SLA 041 Hurricane Hole

In addition to reportedly being called “the most beautiful place in all the Caribbean” by James Michener, Marigot Bay is also known as a wonderfully safe harbor – a hurricane hole.  That is because hurricanes generally come from the east, and it is on the western side of the island.  It also is protected by large hills on three sides, and has both an outer and an inner harbor – the divider being the spit of sand we tourists use as the beach.
